Privacy policy

This privacy policy ("Policy") describes how Mobile Application Developer ("Mobile Application Developer", "we", "us" or "our") collects, protects and uses the personally identifiable information ("Personal Information") you ("User", "you" or "your") may provide in the GREC:Recorder mobile application (the "App"), on our websites grecrecorder.com and web.grecrecorder.com, including our share pages (the "Website"), and in any of their products or services (collectively, "Mobile Application" or "Services"). Unless stated otherwise, references in this Policy to the "Mobile Application" also apply to the Website.

It also describes the choices available to you regarding our use of your Personal Information and how you can access and update this information. This Policy does not apply to the practices of companies that we do not own or control, or to individuals that we do not employ or manage. This Policy works together with our Terms of Use and our Cookie Policy.

Automatic collection of information

When you open the App or visit the Website, our servers automatically record information that your device or browser sends. This data may include information such as your device's IP address and approximate location, device name and version, browser type, operating system type and version, language preferences, information you search for in the Services, pages and screens you view, access times and dates, and other statistics.

Information collected automatically is used to operate and secure the Services, to identify and prevent abuse and fraud, and to establish statistical information regarding traffic and usage. This statistical information is not otherwise aggregated in such a way that would identify any particular user of the system.

The Website uses cookies and similar technologies. Where the law requires it, analytics on the Website are only enabled after you agree to them, and you can change your choice at any time. More details are in our Cookie Policy.

Collection of personal information

You can use some parts of the Services without telling us who you are or revealing any information by which someone could identify you as a specific, identifiable individual. If, however, you wish to use some of the Services' features, you may be asked to provide certain Personal Information (for example, your name and e-mail address). We receive and store any information you knowingly provide to us when you create an account in the App or on the Website, or fill any online forms in the Services. When required, this information may include the following:

You can choose not to provide us with your Personal Information, but then you may not be able to take advantage of some of the Services' features. Users who are uncertain about what information is mandatory are welcome to contact us.

Lists, comments and reports

Lists you share, their names and the profiles in them can be seen by anyone who opens the share code or link, including people without a GREC account. Comments you post can be seen by other users. Comments may be checked automatically, including by an artificial intelligence service provided by OpenAI, to detect content that breaks our Terms of Use.

You can report a List or a comment to us. When you send a report, we store the reason you choose, any details you write, the List or comment reported and the time of the report. If you are signed in, we also store your account ID. If you report a List from a share page without signing in, we store a hashed (one-way encoded) version of your IP address instead of the IP address itself, to limit repeated and abusive reports. Reports are used only to review the reported content, to protect users and to prevent abuse. We do not tell the owner of a List or comment who reported it, unless the law requires us to. We keep reports for as long as needed for these purposes and to meet our legal obligations. Summaries of reports may be sent to our moderators through Telegram.

Information about people who are not users

When users add public profiles to the Services, we process information about those profiles, such as the user name, profile picture, public profile details and the recordings that users make. If your profile has been recorded and you do not want it to be, you may use this form to block it from being recorded and from appearing in the history tab, or contact us at [email protected].

Our Telegram bot processes messages posted in the GREC Telegram groups in order to remove share codes posted there, and may send the poster a direct message explaining why.

Use and processing of collected information

In order to make our Services available to you, or to meet a legal obligation, we need to collect and use certain Personal Information. If you do not provide the information that we request, we may not be able to provide you with the requested products or services. Some of the information we collect is directly from you via the Services. However, we may also collect Personal Information about you from other sources, such as Google or Apple when you sign in with them, and app stores and payment providers when you make a purchase. Any of the information we collect from you may be used for the following purposes:

By registering for our Services, you automatically agree to receive such communications as part of the service. You may opt out at any time by clicking the "unsubscribe" link included in these emails.

Processing your Personal Information depends on how you interact with our Services, where you are located in the world and if one of the following applies: (i) you have given your consent for one or more specific purposes; this, however, does not apply, whenever the processing of Personal Information is subject to California Consumer Privacy Act or European data protection law; (ii) provision of information is necessary for the performance of an agreement with you and/or for any pre-contractual obligations thereof; (iii) processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which you are subject; (iv) processing is related to a task that is carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in us; (v) processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by us or by a third party, such as keeping the Services safe, preventing abuse and handling reports.

Note that under some legislations we may be allowed to process information until you object to such processing (by opting out), without having to rely on consent or any other of the following legal bases below. In any case, we will be happy to clarify the specific legal basis that applies to the processing, and in particular whether the provision of Personal Information is a statutory or contractual requirement, or a requirement necessary to enter into a contract.

Managing information

You are able to delete certain Personal Information we have about you. The Personal Information you can delete may change as the Services change. When you delete Personal Information, however, we may maintain a copy of the unrevised Personal Information in our records for the duration necessary to comply with our obligations to our affiliates and partners, and for the purposes described below. If you would like to delete your Personal Information or permanently delete your account, you can do so on the settings page of your account in the App or on the Website, or by following the steps on our account deletion page. Deleting your account does not cancel subscriptions purchased through Apple, Google or our Website; see our Terms of Use.
